We will continue our “Free Test Drive” of the club so you and your friends can check us out before we start.
Thank you again for supporting and being a part of our program over the last 12+ years. With any programs like this, it wouldn’t be possible without the support, membership and love from all of you – our runners!
See Ya Out There!
Congrats to all of the runners who trained and ran the race and thank you for the end of another great season, our 12th one! A bunch of us went out to mile 12 to cheer on the runners and I brought my DJ rig to supply some music too 🙂 See all of the pictures on Facebook.
We’ll be posting information about the upcoming 2016-17 programs soon.

Congrats to our runners who conquered the La Jolla Half Marathon today! The weather was pretty dang good though a bit bright – a bit chilly in the morning, but with no clouds the beating sun took it’s toll. Our runners did awesome, and the cheer station at Mile 12 before the last couple of hills rocked it as usual! Congrats to our runners, and thanks to family and friends who came out to cheer!
La Jolla Half Marathon Training Club Pictures
We’re off and running for the 2007 Carlsbad Marathon. We are on track to have the largest Carlsbad group of all our times. Training started on 9/18/06.
Team VAVi Running Club is proud to announce further expansion to the marathon training clubs by adding another coach to the program and by re-vamping some of the training schedules and program.
Dr. Jason Karp is going to work with Coach Blake and Robert to overhaul the Advanced Training Programs and take them to a new level. In addition to a new training schedule, Dr. Karp will introduce new “advanced” training techniques, clinics and group runs.
“It’s been our goal to cater to as many runners as possible” Coach Blake states “and by having Dr. Karp join the team allows us to meet those goals. We’re excited to see yet more growth!” Learn more about Dr. Karp
The 9th season of our VAVI running club set out to tackle the infamous La Jolla Half Marathon. Thankfully the sun stayed away and kept this beautiful course at a comfortable temperature. So proud of everyone that participated and conquered those hills! It’s so rewarding seeing runners, volunteers, spectators and staff come together for a great race!
The VAVi Running Club’s history goes way back by now as it gears up for it’s 6th year and 12th season. The club was originally developed and continues to be directed by Coach Blake Miller.
Coach Blake, along with Coach Robert, also oversee another running community in San Diego, aptly named “Run San Diego“. RSD provides additional coaching and consulting services, a summer training program for the AFC half marathon and a sense of community amongst San Diego Runners. Both TVRC and RSD have combined seen over 1,200 runners through their group training programs!
In mid-2010, it was made official that Coach Blake Miller with Run San Diego (along with Coach Robert) would continue to oversee the operations of the VAVi Marathon Training programs. We all look forward to helping runners of San Diego achieve their training and running goals!
For the first time in the 9 season history, the TVRC has reached is capacity at 300+ runners. Like so many races, training program and other running events, we have sold out for the Spring Training season (La Jolla Half + Rock n Roll Half/Full)
We’re glad to be able to reach out to so many runners and help them achieve their goals – whether it’s training for their first half marathon, or going for their 3rd PR! We’d love to have you join us!
Jessica Goertz won the Women’s division of the La Jolla Half Marathon on Sunday, 4/26/10 with a time of 1:25:06. She inched out her racing nemesis Hilary Como who finished only nine seconds behind.
Jessica has done the a majority of her group training with the VAVi running club and Run San Diego for the last 3 years. (Though we know she also kicks ass on her own too 😉
UPDATE: Jessica went on to get another PR at the America’s Finest City half marathon with a 1:22:52 and we know she has her sites on some bigger stuff!. We’re looking forward to having Jessica back on our team!!
